Hi. I’m Stephen Trusheim. I’m an optimistic AI guy. These days, it’s popular to wonder if AI will kill us all. The good news, and the bad news, is that computers will make humans more human. Personally, I’d like the world to be better, not worse — so my mission is to use AI to make the world better, and I love helping others do the same. 🚀
I’m the Co-Founder & CEO of Tome, the world’s first AI-powered law firm. We’re the fastest and most affordable solution for common legal questions, because we built AI to do 80% of the hard work. I cofounded Tome with expert attorneys because I think America’s legal system is unfair: big businesses can afford $1,000/hour lawyers, but 94% of Americans can’t afford any lawyer. Using Tome, everyone can review reliable AI analysis, understand alternative options, learn about relevant legal information, and instantly ask expert attorneys for personalized advice. Take a break from reading my bio and start today for free!
Before I founded Tome, I was Partner & Head of Operations at SignalFire, where I drowned in common legal questions. SignalFire is the first venture capital firm to innovate on venture capital itself, building a hybrid system using AI, network analysis, and unique data to find, empower, and accelerate founders. As a Partner, I helped build our system, turned the predictive “will totally crush it” filter to 11, and then simply invested in those companies. (No, I’m kidding, there’s more to it than that … right?) As the Head of Operations, I ran the back office of our SEC-Registered Investment Adviser from $0 to $3 billion in AUM, managing operations, legal, finance, audit, and compliance across 35 funds. I was one of the most active deal-makers in Silicon Valley, usually typecast as “bad cop” as I executed more than 650 financings.
I hold B.S. and M.S. degrees in AI from Stanford University, where I graduated with the Outstanding Achievement Award and the James W. Lyons Award for Service. I’ve served on the Federal Reserve Task Force on Faster Payments, on multiple non-profit boards, and as a cashier for my mom’s budding book business. Back when I was younger and more foolish, I was named Forbes 30 Under 30; and before that, I was awarded an iron-rich main-belt asteroid, conveniently located just past Mars.
